Is it only me, or do people in general get all food obsessed when they are on a holiday? Lately I have almost scared myself with my constant thoughts on food. When I go to bed I am looking forward to breakfast. When I have breakfast the next morning I am already thinking about lunch. And when I am eating lunch I am normally in the planning stage for dinner. Geeez?! Not only is this food-obsession a bit… odd, but it is also a bit unusual? Normally I eat what is served. No fuss. I don’t enjoy cooking for hours. Tuna-pasta-pesto (a la 9 mere minutes) is a standard meal in my world. But during a holiday, I suddenly turn into a really picky chef, who gets disappointed when she realises that we don’t have any fresh basil at home. And I don’t even normally eat basil?!
Another, slightly worrying thing is the fact that I am actually ‘longing for food.’ Before I went on a holiday to Sweden I wrote long lists of all the food I wanted to eat so that I wouldn’t forget anything (OK, I was bored on the airplane, but that’s still no excuse). Now, I am writing mental notes of food that I miss from China. I am even considering visiting Sweden’s first (and only I believe?) baozi restaurant, and I don’t even like baozi (a standard Shanghai breakfast –a steamed bun with a filling)?!
Since today is MY day, things are even worse. When I woke up I got breakfast in bed, followed by Swiss chocolates with my morning coffee. Soon I’ll be making the standard, Swedish cake, and tonight my friend’s have prepared a ‘surprise meal’ for me?! I am as excited as a five year old the night before Xmas.
Am I in need of a hobby?!

The way you described your food cravings, it sounds like you might be pregnant. You know, eating for two and all.
Hm... that would make sense. But I know I am not preggers. Just greedy.

Oh I'm even worse. I went to hk to work (not even holidays) for 4 weeks and I must have gained 2 kg while I was there. The food was sooo good (and free). I normally don't eat breakfast, but when I was there, I'd have breakfast and a few snacks in between...
*sigh*
I'm back in Perth again for holidays and I'm already thinking of the fish and chips in Freo...
Haha, I guess the thought of "vacations/holidays are made for eating" is the same everywhere. I just came home too and, like you, was thinking about the next meal every time I ate. That does not work well with the "get fit before China" plan!
