Photo special: Changsha locals and wet market

Like always when I photograph I was drawn to the cute Chinese children of Changsha. Taking photos of food/ street vendors is another weakness of mine, as you might have noticed... (see that cookie stall? Guess who tried EVERY SINGLE cookie they had before she bought herself some... yup, I have a bit of a sweet tooth!). I guess you guys are sick of reading about Changsha now... well well, I promise to give you all a bit of a Changsha-break before I start nagging about how wonderful it was again. Although one thing is for sure -I am definitely going back to Hunan (preferably some other part next time) before I leave China.

More about my trip to Changsha here. Have a great weekend everyone!

I love the picture of the baby in the carrier. My wife and I have already discussed getting one of those... well the modern version anyways... when we have a kid.

Great photos Jonna!

The photo of the 2 cute schoolgirls is very impressive!

You should not miss these two famous sites of Hunan,
if you have the chance before leaving china.
These 2 sites are listed under "World Natural Heritage" by UNESCO.

1) ZhangJiaJie ( NorthWest of Changsha ) -Info eg at
http://chineseculture.about.com/library/gallery/zhangjiajie/blgzjj.htm

2) Fenghuang ( NorthWest of Changsha ) village Town eg at
http://www.chinaculturecenter.org/tours/eventdetail.php?eventid=84
http://whc.unesco.org/en/tentativelists/5337/

Additional Bonus
3) North of Hunan 3 Gorges
If you still have more time you should take a trip by boat/ship down
the 3 Gorges from the city of ChongQing to Yichang ( 3-Gorges Dam City)
north of Hunan.

You can find a lot of additional information on the internet on these 3 famous places to visit, around Hunan Area.
Enjoy!!

Casual observer -love hearing I am not the only one with a weakness for sugar...

Lover of life -thanks! New photo time next wknd :)

Dazhong Wong -thanks! Yeah, taking photos of Chinese kids over here is one of my fave hobbies. It is also so great because their parents get all proud and happy when I take their kids photo... not like back home where a lot of parents would be angry.

Kanmuri -glad to hear... :)

Brad F -I would also like one of those. My sister just had a baby (yup, I am now officially an aunt!! gosh!) and I would love to get her one of those. No idea where I could buy one though... but they can't be that hard to find I bet?

The third eye -thanks for the info, when I go next time I'll def research those places u suggested.

Hi,
I have some photos of Qingdao that I'd like to share. How can I go about doing this on your blog?

~cheers

Sailing city -I suggest you post them on your own blog? This is my personal blog with my blog posts and my photos... I don't really post other people's stuff at this point, sorry.

Jonna ~ It makes you feel old doesn't it? I'm an Uncle 3 times over. Scary.

Sailing City ~ You should post those on your own blog. Sometimes though, if I have a relevant picture, that relates or adds to the post being commented on, I'll upload it to a photo hosting site, and then leave the link in a comment. That way other posters can optionally click it to see it if they want to.

why do you always photograph the poorer china? is all foreigners obsessed with this image rather than the real china?

a little curious, thats all :)

I personally think that China's country side is more interesting than big cities like Shanghai and Beijing..I feel the big cities are all about consuming... shopping, shopping, shopping, meanwhile at the country side, you can actually sit down and TALK without having to buy something... I am also a big fan of the fact that the country side has some nature, meanwhile the city only have stiff looking parks where u are not allowed to sit on the grass. And finally, places like a wet market makes better photos than some Shanghai skyscrapers! Although point taken -I should do a city-photo-special soon!
