Photo special: Yunnan's countryside and minority villages

All these photos are from a trip I made to Yunnan in May 2006. The villages I visited were quite poor but the people living there are still some the most friendly and generous people I've ever encountered. All in all, I'd say it was an amazing experience and I am grateful I got a chance to visit these remote places. Can't wait to make it back to Yunnan later this year.

(Ps. Today's Sweden's National Day, so Happy Sweden Day everybody! I'll celebrate from Hainan with an extra large, blue cocktail that I'll sip on while wearing my yellow bikini).

Happy Sweden Day to you as well! It's hard to picture a place as Un-Sweden as Hainan Dao, but I guess that's part of the fun!

Thanks for sharing the great pictures and enjoy the remainder of your vacation.

A lot of these photos remind me of the Philippines, especially the one of the little shop. In the Philippines there are little shops like that in the neighborhood. They're called "sari-sari stores".

Hy,
verry interested in your blog about the She.
I want to see them. Do you have info to go to Taishun, Jinyun, Jingning, Lishui.
Looking at the map, I thingk it is not easy to reach them.
Is that so?
Thanks

养蜂猴 -I am going back to Yunnan in September this year to explore some more. Last time I was there I only went to the town Yuxi, and from there we drove to the mountains and the minority villages... (Daxi and some others). This was my first trip to China so I was quite lost and overwhelmed by everything, so it wouldn't be fair to 'recommend' some spot up there...since I don't know it so well. And, those villages are very poor.

U r right about anyone being a good photographer in yunnan though.. the landscape does the job for you. All you have to do is click. :)
