Tiger Leaping Gorge sneak peak

This video is filmed at the end of the 28 bends of the Tiger Leaping Gorge. I was pretty beat as I am sure you can tell from my heavy breathing. Actually, when I showed this clip to a friend he asked if it was a horse breathing! Haha! But just to make things clear, oh-no, no horse... Just me! Keen to reach the top!

A full post with photos will follow today or tomorrow.

  1. Amazing views...

This is actually this first time I heard you speak Chinese (if that was you speaking). And yes, you were breathing quite heavily ;)

Must have had quite a workout ^^

  2. Good grief Jonna! I guess all that time off your feet from the hurt ankle is showing now. I'm sure you'll be back to normal in no time!

That looks like a spectacular view!

  3. Is that it? Is that the view from the top? More mountains? Was it worth it?

    Congrats on doing it!

  4. Pingu -yeah the view was stunning! It was me speaking to a Naxi man in between breathing heavily yes... :) I would say climbing this mountain (even though I wasn't literally climbing) was much harder than running a half marathon. The heat?! The sun? The lose stones? The impact on your knees!! aaaaarrrgghhh! It was really awesome though and I'm so happy I did it!

    Martin -you're welcome!

Brad -yup. Not in a good shape obviously... oh well, what can I do. I actually had to use an ankle support during the TLG trek because I was scared of re-spraining it. Because of the heat and the time spent climbing/walking that first day (some 8 hours) I had a huge rash after the support when I eventually took it off. So, if possible, my ankle looks even worse now. also, it is still swollen?! Should I be worried? It's been a month.

Book Bird Dog -it was ALL worth it!! :) I'm scared of heights so for me this was a way of challenging myself.

  6. Thanks for the climbing clip, Jonna. Glad to hear you had a good workout. Reminds me of hiking mountains in Arizona with my cousin Karen. Funny how an incline can make one breath hard! LOL. Thanks for sharing!!!! :D

  9. I clicked on it hoping that you'd filmed a tiger, leaping a gorge.

I will go away and have a read about tiger leaping gorge. :D

  10. Shanghai MiFeng -yes it was hard! Harder than I had ever imagine! I still consider myself to be fairly fit, but after this climb I realized that I am not! Haha!

Carl -yeah, I don't even breathe that hard after a half marathon!?! It's definitely more challenging to climb than to run!

Hang -that's really good to hear, makes me feel a tad bit better, haha! How come u cannot see the video?! Shame...

Little tiger -hahahhaha, yeah, and I am sure i looked like a witch after completing this trek.. hihi. All my clothes were dripping wet from sweat and my hair... yup, definitely some witch style going on there.. ;)

    Pete -thanks!

Charlie -haha, yeah I bet the name can be a bit misleading. Well the gorge has been named after a legend which says that a tiger once leaps across the narrowest part of the gorge... I'll tell more about it in a bit!

  12. Thanks Fei, that's so sweet of you to say. Although I don't really agree... my pronunciation isn't that great, but people seem to understand me most of the time so I guess that's still OK!! :)
