Back on track (finally!)
Forgive me for my absence. I started my new job this Monday and it’s been rather overwhelming. Also, living in a flat with no internet connection (and no microwave?!) for 1 week it quite unbearable. However, after extensive nagging-campaigns initiated by me and targeted at my new landlord he finally gave in and took the time to fix up my flat. And now, ta-da, I have the net. I’m connected. And I can blog again. YEY!
So how about work then? Well work is just work right?! I won’t go into details about my job in this blog but I can tell you that it’s an exciting new job with a lot of responsibilities and that I’ll be staying in China for quite a long time if everything goes as planned.
This (the new flat, the new job, the new…. Life?! Because it is a new life for me!) will be celebrated tonight with an old ex-colleague and the largest possible drinks we can get at a cocktail event in downtown. I am so, so happy about finally living in Shanghai again. No offense to Suzhou, but Shanghai is really the place where I want to be.
Hmmm... I was waiting for some info about the new job =) Are you going to tell anything about it?
ReplyDeleteLucky you! I'm envious:)
ReplyDeleteWatch out Shanghai, there's a new kid (back) in town :)
ReplyDeletegung xi ni Jonna. Back where the action is.
Adrian
Sounds great your home is your sanctuary a place where the world sould have to come in if you don't want it to. Sometimes it does but on a whole it's a place to catch your breath from the worries of the world. It's great you have a job & a place & a time at the present where you are feeling good about the direction of your life. I seem to remember at one point where you were questioning "that" back in your birth land during either the wedding preparation time or summer break. It's great life is pointing down a path with good options. Now is the party for everyone on your blog to come to.....hehe just kidding you don't have to answer that one!! :o)
ReplyDeleteYou got internet connection in less than one weeek ? I am moving from Tokyo to Shanghai...
ReplyDeleteOh Jonna, I'm so happy you're all sorted out. I understand you can't go into details about your job. Nonetheless, I'm really happy to hear that there are good opportunities for foreigners in Shanghai at the moment. 加油(娜)!!
ReplyDeleteCongrats, Jonna, on the new flat, the new job, and especially the new locale (city)! Sounds like you plan a great celebration to mark the occaision. Have fun! :D
ReplyDeleteA new year get a new job and new flat~~~ so happy you are!!!
ReplyDeleteTarja -It's that sort of job that u just don't wanna screem out. Maybe I will tell eventually, but first I wanna try things out and see how I go. Hope u understand!
ReplyDeleteBook -Thank you :)
Adrian -yeah, jonna is back big time! Loving it!
Pete -u r so right. I have been so confused about where my life is heading for the last 6-8 months. It feels sooooo good to finally have a bit of an idea of what I am doing and about what is happening. Having a job is great, especially in times like this, and to tell u the truth, I enjoy working more than I enjoy studying. Party u say?! haha, let's wait and see about that one!
Mountaincat -not without nagging, let me tell u that much! The VPN still doesn't work completely so everything isn't done... I had no idea it was so problematic to get things done in Japan?! thought it would be smoother there?
Little Tiger -Thank you! I am also happy I'm finally sorted out. U really have to let me know if u r coming to China later this year. The expo preparations are quite overwhelming a.t.m, and still, this is just the beginning. Here are a lot of opportunities for foreigners who speak good Chinese I believe.
Carl -I did have a bit of a celebration last night, it was fun and glam and it feels so good to be back!
Mantse -very happy indeed!
No internet or microwave?!
ReplyDeleteIt's weird how we get so attached and dependent on modern conveniences. I feel lost without them. Yet not 10 years ago I had no cell phone or internet access. I have a hard time remembering what that was like!
No internet and no microwave? sounds horrible! I can tell you because since im going to move to shanghai the last 2 weeks i have been living in an empty appartment, i have just my bed and my computer, it sucks, but i needed to put all my stuff in an storage place.
ReplyDeleteFinally i will get to Shanghai the 18 of february, any advice?
usually in China if you make an appointment today, the network staff will come to your place in 3 days. As a foreigner, you can not apply by your own,you need to use in your landlord name, his/her ID is needed which means he or she needs to go to the counter in person.
ReplyDeleteHere it is 2 weeks at least for some reason to get internet. some kind of checks etc.
ReplyDeleteDr Heckle -I know, it's a bit scary if you think of it. I'm still one of those who prefer to travel without my mobile phone. The freedom, ahhhhh!
ReplyDeleteBere -oh, u r coming to SH?! Well, just enjoy the city! There is not that much to see here (no great wall a la Beijing), however, here are loads of good restaurants and bars and the shopping is amazing. I suggest you check out www.smartshanghai.com to see what's going on when u r around!
Neil -yeah well finally it is set up now!! After a lot of nagging!
Mountaincat -yikes, that sounds tough. I hope there are good wifi connections on cafes?
