Feedback, please!

New seasons... new posts!

A lot of changes are coming up here in Shanghai: the Expo ends this Sunday (and no, I will not visit any more pavilions, however, I might go for a closing ceremony at the Swedish one if I have time on Sunday). The temperature is dropping steadily (funny how it goes from wearing short, summer dresses one week to putting on your winter coat the next), and I am slowly moving back towards my normal sleeping/exercise patterns (last week I did running twice and hot yoga three times –and I slept like a baby every single night! Exercise is the key to healthy living for me). My trip to Australia (YAY!) is getting closer, and I’m so excited about this that I almost cannot think about it, because when I do I get this kind of cheesy grin on my face.

Anyway, with all of these new things coming up, I feel as if my batteries are slowly recharging, as if I'm getting ready for something new: a colder, calmer city with no more Expo-hysteria and maybe not overtime work every second wknd?! Ya, actually, I am ready! Bring it on!

So, in line with this "new era," I too want to renew myself and give you people that are reading this blog something new, something exciting, or maybe I'm just looking for some inspiration for myself?

Therefore, I now ask you all: what do you want to read about in this blog? What topics interest you? What kind of stories? What sort of photos? Do you want to see something new being introduced (like, an introduction to a new shop or a new restaurant)? Do you want more simple, nothing-special-like updates about daily life, or....

Now, before you all write “more travel stories!” I might have to already disappoint you and say that I cannot afford to go anywhere but Suzhou for a long wknd before my Australia trip.. so unfortunately the travelling posts will be limited for a while still.

However, do tell me what else you’d like me to blog about!

I'd like you to write about how some international things are perceived within China, like the yuan value issue with USA, Japan etc. What is the gov saying and if average people are buying it.

Some photos of Shanghai and descriptions of areas. And of course I love your daily life posts!

Personally, I enjoy reading whatever you like to write about. Whether it is a travel adventure, or a funny conversation, I think you should just keep writing about the things you write now.

Hi, I am a first time poster, but long time reader. I really like your blog, and enjoy reading your China EDL's (every day life) stories and pictures.
It's one of my favorite blogs which I read on a regular basis. ;-) Keep writing what you have been all along.

Jonna, love your blog. Keep doing "everyday living" stories. What may seem "ordinary" to you is adventurous to most of us. Thanks. RichFromTampa

Hi Jonna!
I love your blog, and everything you write about is great! I especially like the "everyday" posts- about the shops, customs, etc that are totally average in China, but make everyone else stop for a second and go "huh?!"

Keep writing! You're awesome!

One topic that I am interested in the real estate market in China. Housing price is getting so expensive in tier one cities in China. What do people who are familiar with it think? Is this housing price sustainable? In light of housing bubble in the U.S. two years ago, is China going to have a similar bubble? And who are those people that would pay so much for some structure that you don't even own land over?

BTW, I have always enjoyed your blog. Thanks.

Cheers for all the feedback, I'm really happy to hear that most of you still enjoy those simple, every-day posts.. it would be hard to come up with something special every single day.

As for how international things are being perceived, I find that a tricky one to write about, mainly because China is such a huge country and because here are sooooo many people. I mean, I can discuss with my colleagues, friends and taxi drivers, but that doesn't mean that what they say is what everyone thinks.. so I think it's hard to write about the "general publics view". I think it's better to read news articles written by foreign correspondents for that matter.

As for the real estate market, again, I could never comment on what it's like in China, but more like, what it's like in Shanghai. Again, I'm no expert, but I'll def try to see how I can blog about this.

To all of you -thanks again for your comments! It means a lot!

Jonna, I agree with the other readers that your blog is very interesting as is. But if you want some suggestions, here are a few things I’d like to see you blog about:

1. Junk food review
2. Unusual restaurant/food review
3. Philosophy and culture in Chinese words and language
4. Linguistic/language comparisons (in English you say this, in Swedish we say this, but in Chinese you say this)
5. Chinese things/music/poetry/movies/gestures/food/customs you thought were bad, ugly, repulsive, rude, strange, different when you encountered them at first, but now you have come to appreciate, and have a different meaning now that you have gotten used to them or understand the culture better.
6. Authentic/real Chinese persons/families you have come to know

Thanks
