This park doesn't do itself justice on photos... it is one of the nicest and most relaxed places I have ever visited! I was there in May, 2006 (after a trip to some of Yunnan's poor mountain villages this was a nice change) and I loved it. People were in no hurry -playing cards, drinking tea, sitting in groups chatting, singing, and eating nuts and seeds. Me and my Beijing friend Panda bought ourself a deck of card, a bag of roasted seeds, ordered a large pot of tea and joined the fun. A must visit-place for anyone passing by Kunming, capital of Yunnan.
Nice pics, looks so cool and peaceful. A couple of those shots would make a great jigsaw puzzle.
ReplyDeletewhich ethnicity has the most population in Kunming, if you do not mind me asking. Since the people in the pictures you posted do not resemble the Han people, at least not in my opinion.
ReplyDeletegreat pix by the way.
Very nice photos!

ReplyDeleteBeautiful!! I want to go :)
ReplyDeletehi youna,
ReplyDeletei have read your blog. just want to tell you not to take what happens in your chinese class to heart. thats the way education goes in china. there is definately no quality assurance unlike where you come from.
in fact, i have heard that in some universities the teacher actually ask their students openly for a bribe. so count yourself lucky you dont encounter such teachers.
It looks like a very serene place. Thanks for the tour.
ReplyDeleteThis place looks amazing!! Thanks for the pictures :]
ReplyDeleteWow, every time I see your blog it makes me want to go to China more and more. However I'm actually making the effort to begin to learn some Mandarin, then way later on down the road Cantonese.
ReplyDeleteBut your pictures are always awesome which leads me to ask, what type of camera do you use to take all these pictures?
Wow it's beautiful there!!
ReplyDeleteGreat to hear a lot of you enjoyed the photos! :) Thanks for all the nice comments!
ReplyDeleteIcognito -I actually don't know. Only thing I know is that there are a lot of minority groups in Yunnan, maybe even most in China?
Butler and bagman -yeah, isn't he?! :)
Acolyte Tao -I have only one word for you: GO!!! :) (China has so many nice places worth visiting!)
The acolyte tao -I forgot to answer your question! This was on a work trip so I believe I was using a Nikon D40 or Nikon D50 when I took these photos.
ReplyDeleteThat looks like a really nice park. It just made me realize that I can't remember the last time I went somewhere to just sit down and relax and waste time. It seems like there's always something to see or do. I want to go to a park this weekend...
ReplyDeleteI agree with some of commenters.
ReplyDeleteInnocently I wanna just say that how ever the park is beautful or wht else it is..! The big thing is to Find :Wht it is Really, wht we get from there.I m living some other else now after reading ur words n pictures , I can Say I know the park more than a general citizen who visits every day.
ThanX
Nice, I was just there over the Spring Festival. By any chance, did you visit Yunnan University (just behind the park) a beautiful campus modeled after Tsinghua University. I remember in the 1980s, this park charged 50 cents to get in, now its free for everyone. Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeletenow just One Word To Say thanks !
