Photo special: kids

I don’t know what I have been doing wrong lately but bad karma is continuing to rain down on me. Yesterday evening I slipped outside Suzhou’s train station (it had been raining all day and there I came striding….). And not as in ‘whooops, I slipped’ but as in, I slipped, and fell, managed to place one leg under my body with the knee facing the ground (quite strange position seeing that I am not the flexible kind). The result of this gracious movement: I almost ruined my jeans and my left foot is not feeling so well: swollen and unhappy. Great way to start your weekend, huh?! Today I am going to Shanghai (catching the 7am train, nice!) again, and once I get home again I am going to escape the world by visiting a massage place and have a back, shoulder, face and you name it massage, and forget about this whole week. Gosh, some weeks you should just lock yourself inside your flat, right?

Anyways, I am hoping for a super fast foot recovery and then (unless I get hit by a car or something) a relaxed Sunday with the only ‘must dos’ being a phone call to Sweden, as well as a long run. Today’s picture special (cute Chinese kids!) is completely egoistic: simply to put a smile on my face. I love taking photos of kids and old people –you don’t have to do anything to get a good shot, they do the whole job for you!

Runner up baby: My sister's (not the one who's getting married -I have 2) baby boy Sam, the latest addition to the Wibelius clan. Gorgeous, huh? I am still to meet him live.

Lovely pictures! It certainly sounds like you've run into a lot of bad luck recently. It must be in the stars....in which case it'll pass soon I'm sure. I hope your foot gets better soon!

Don't rush the foot recovery - they can be very sensitive to injury and need to be rested properly. I don't recommend a run quite so soon...;-)

Lovely photos and I like kids as well. It seems like you were running, rushing too much, especially in the ShangHai train station.

Have a relaxed weekend~~

Cute pictures !!! As David suggested, forget about the long run ... ice your foot every three hour with a frozen bag of green peas or soak it in warm water with espom salt. Take Care !!!

I agree with David there , rest and keep your weight off your Foot for a while , anyway ... hope it will get better soon . A couple of glasses of some Wino and it will feel better already .

I'll repeat what David said...

I'd put off that "long run." That whole idea of just "running off" a leg or foot injury is a load of bull.

I severely twisted my left ankle in Kuwait in 2007. I didn't get it treated properly and didn't take enough time off from jogging.

Last year I had a physical and I have, possibly permanently, lost full range of motion in my left ankle.

It hurts after I run now, and if I stand a lot or walk a long way.

Take care of your body Jonna, especially if you love to run.

Chris -yeah, let's blame the stars... :) thanks for your comment :)

David, Brad, Chong and Shanghai MiFeng -thanks for your concern!! I won't rush the foot recovery. Although when I walked on it today I didn't feel any pain, it's mainly when I touch it or if I hit it against something. But I'll see how it feels tomorrow... I am not stupid -if it hurts even a little bit I am not going to run... this is the same foot that I broke 4 years ago and after that little experinece (6 weeks in a cast and unable to move much + 6 weeks to learn how to walk/get some muscles back into the leg + 6 months of recovery/cross training until I was finally able to run again) I am not taking any stupid risks. However much I ache for that long-run!

She -U r totally right. I have been rushing arouns too much lately. I hope it will be a while before I'm late for my train again. Have a great wknd u too!

Hello! I came across your blog yesterday in a fit of procrasination and spent some lovely hours reading through your archives instead of my International Economics textbook :D So yes, I just wanted to say that I really enjoyed reading SHE in China; I found it incredibly entertaining and it was lovely to see China from a different perspective. I'm really glad I overrode my inital aversion (I had thought from the name that this was some sort of SHE (the band) fanblog which turned me off a bit haha) and visited!

Anyway, I hope that your foot gets better and that you can go for lots and lots of long runs! (If it wasn't for these commenters, I don't think I'd have remembered your foot having read through your life in one big mess!)

Now I am off to read some of the other china expat blogs you have linked! And maybe do some work after...

Hope you feel better soon. I'm getting to the age (33) where these sorts of incidents are becoming more frequent. Ugh.

As others have said, don't try to rush the recovery.

Children are the best all over the world. Such innocence and pure unadulterated happiness, something most adults can learn from the kids, when leading our daily lives.
That is why, to me, looking at such lovely pictures, bring instant priceless joy and reflections.

I wonder who really are the kids, the adults or the kids, are really the "kids". :-)

Your second photo from the top,the red shirted boy holding some simple stones, tells a lot.
We humans do not really need much, all we need is some equivalent "simple stones" ( not golden Fort Knox nuggets) to play with, and we can really be happy, only we know how and enjoy the moment as it is.
